Performance Management Systems

DCPAS is responsible for oversight of the Senior Executive Service (SES) and Senior Professional (SP) performance management systems. In alignment with policy, these systems promote excellence in executive performance by establishing a rigorous performance culture in which the performance and contribution of SES and SP members are fully recognized and rewarded. The main purpose of these performance management systems is twofold:

  • Use of performance results as the primary basis for determining pay, awards, development, retention, removal, and other employment decisions.
  • Recognize executives who demonstrate the highest levels of performance and make the most significant contribution to DOD’s and Components’ organizational performance with the highest rates of performance based-pay adjustments and bonuses.
