Federal Benefits Open Season

DCPAS provides Open Season guidance to DOD HR Practitioners via numbered messages, Fact Sheets, and Newsflashes. Information is published each year on the DCPAS Federal Benefits Open Season Page to ensure employees are aware of Open Season dates and participating program changes.

The 2023 Federal Benefits Open Season is from November 13 through December 11. This event is for eligible appropriated fund employees and retirees.  Open Season is an annual opportunity for DOD employees to enroll, change plans, or cancel their enrollment for the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Program (FEDVIP) and/or the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program. Employees may also re-enroll or newly enroll in the Federal Flexible Spending Account Program (FSAFEDS). Keep in mind that unlike FEHB and FEDVIP, FSAFEDS enrollments do not automatically carry over from year to year. Employees must re-enroll each Open Season.

Federal benefits make up a significant portion of the total compensation offered to employees. Everyone is encouraged to make the most of this opportunity! Employees should contact their benefits service center for assistance, if needed.
