Personnel Vetting and Fitness
As a condition of employment, all applicants undergo a background investigation to make a suitability/fitness determination that meets the positions designated risk or sensitivity level. Additionally, any individual who is required to register with Selective Service and who has not, and has knowingly and willfully not registered before the requirement terminated or became non-applicable to the individual, will not be appointed. Current and newly hired employees that provide childcare services for children under the age of 18 are subject to additional criminal history background checks. DCPAS is responsible for the development and oversight of DOD policy that establishes uniform DOD-wide procedures for determining suitability and fitness for DOD civilian personnel.
